Woman abducted from SD, located in ND

A 41-year-old woman abducted from South Dakota was located in North Dakota.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at about 10:32 p.m. on Friday, local authorities were made aware of an abduction that occurred in Brown County South Dakota. A 41-year-old female was taken from her mother’s residence in South Dakota by Ryan Degroat, 35.

Law enforcement was able to use cellphone triangulation to locate the suspect vehicle, a 2006 Gold Hyundai Elantra. The vehicle was located at the rest area on Highway 281, 8 miles north of Edgeley at about 2:22 a.m. today. Highway Patrol troopers and a LaMoure County deputy were on scene.

The male suspect was taken into custody by the N.D. Highway Patrol and taken to Stutsman County Corrections pending felony charges.

The female was taken to Jamestown Regional Medical Center by ambulance and treated for injuries

sustained throughout the incident. Her name will not be released.

Agencies that responded include Highway Patrol, LaMoure County Sheriff’s office, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, and Edgeley and Jamestown Ambulance.

The incident remains under investigation by the N.D. Highway Patrol.
