Past month driest April since 2018

This past month of April the average temperature was 38.1 degrees, which is 2.3 degrees below the 119-year long-term average of 40.4 degrees, according to Austin Kraklau of the NDSU Research Extension Center, south of Minot.

He said the lowest temperature of the month was 15 degrees, which occurred on April 19, and the high was 82 degrees on April 23.

The total moisture for the month was 0.32 inches which is 1.15 inches below the long-term average of 1.47 inches.

The total snowfall for the month was 0.0 inches, which is 4.0 inches below the long-term average of 4 inches, according to Kraklau.

“This has been the driest April since 2018, which only had 0.14-inch of moisture,” Kraklau said.
