MSU students earn two national titles

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Twenty Minot State University students competed at the 2026 Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership Conference, which was held June 6-8 at the Westgate Las Vegas. Two students, Elizabeth Chapman and Luke Curren, were named national champions.
The NLC provided more than 60 business-centered educational workshops and competition events, which was attended by college students, educators and volunteers from across the county. Representatives from employers and more than 20 colleges were also in attendance to give students the opportunity to network.
Twenty students from MSU attended NCL 2026, and six other students, along with Chapman and Curren, placed in the top 10 in seven categories.
More than 1,500 attendees from nearly 200 colleges competed in 42 business-related events for the opportunity to earn scholarships and cash prizes which totaled almost $60,000.
“This year’s National Leadership Conference showcased the incredible talent and dedication of our student members,” said FBLA President and CEO Jennifer Woods. “From analytical thinking to dynamic communication, they demonstrated the skills that will shape tomorrow’s workforce. These college students leave Las Vegas not only with well-earned recognition, but also with new connections, confidence and a clearer path toward their future careers.”
The events MSU students placed in at NCL 2026 are: Elizabeth Chapman, Foundations of Digital Design, national champion; Luke Curren, Computer Applications, national champion; Mason Lemer, Future Business Executive, third place; Mason Lemer and Kyle Sandy, Emerging Business Issues, fifth place; Tessa Galvin, Business Communications, fifth place; Connor Radke, Foundations of Accounting, sixth place; Zack Volson and Kyle Sandy, Business Presentation, seventh place; Allyson Webster, Retail Management, seventh place; Luke Curren, Foundations of Digital Design, ninth place.
Other recognitions were awarded to: Alec Wolf, North Dakota FBLA President and North Dakota Who’s Who; Cambry Ankenbauer, Chapter President 2025-2026 acceptor of the award for MSU’s Gold Seal Chapter; and Jan Repnow, adviser, North Dakota Outstanding Local Chapter Adviser.
