Minot woman sentenced for meth possession
A Minot woman who pleaded guilty to narcotics charges and driving under suspension was sentenced to time served after entering into a plea agreement with Ward County prosecutors.
Cassandra Lynn Sherry-Hill, 32, entered her change of plea in North Central District Court on Oct. 30, pleading guilty to possession with intent to manufacture/deliver-methamphetamine, a Class B misdemeanor; unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia-second offense, a Class C felony; and driving under suspension, a Class B misdemeanor.
According to court documents, the charges against Sherry-Hill stemmed from a February traffic stop by a Ward County deputy of a vehicle after it failed to signal a right turn. Sherry-Hill was determined to be driving with a suspended license. Sherry-Hill passed a field sobriety test, but a K-9 officer called to the scene signaled the presence of narcotics after inspecting the vehicle.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Sherry-Hill informed the deputy meth and distribution paraphernalia would be located in the vehicle, which were found after a subsequent search. An additional vial containing gram of methamphetamine was located on her person as she was being processed at the Ward County Jail.
District Court Judge Gary Lee sentenced Sherry-Hill to 10 years with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, to first serve 55 days with credit for 55 days served. Sherry-Hill was ordered to complete three years of supervised probation, along with a chemical dependency evaluation. She was ordered to pay $775 in court fines and fees.
