Magic City Discovery Center to celebrate first year May 4-5

Magic City Discovery Center will celebrate one full year of operation with a birthday celebration Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5.

Birthday treats will be served all day, both days, on the third floor with the opportunity to take a selfie at the birthday selfie station. Museum goers will be able to step out and take in the view from the third floor rooftop access and get the best view in Minot. Birthday projects and activities will be held in both the Makers Space and Creativity Studios. Smithsonian Spark!Lab Center will have a new rotational activity and on the second floor a new exhibit will make its debut.

Members will receive an added bonus hour from 9-10 a.m. May 4, May 11 and May 18 before opening to the public at 10 a.m. each of those Saturdays.

“It has been an awesome first year with a lot of visitors coming to the Magic City Discovery Center to play and learn. We encourage everyone to come out and celebrate this amazing center in Minot,” said Wendy Keller, executive director.

More than 90,000 visitors have come throughout the year via field trips, membership and admission visits. The discovery center also has hosted several private and sponsored events in addition to classes and camps, monthly educational programs and sensory friendly nights.
