District 6 Legion posts, auxiliaries to meet

KENMARE – Members of North Dakota’s American Legion Posts of the 6th District and their Auxiliary will gather in the Kenmare Memorial Hall for their 2024 Spring District Meeting on Friday, April 5, at 7 p.m.

District 6 includes Burke, Renville, Bottineau, McHenry, Ward and western McLean counties.

A tour of the Veterans Building at Pioneer Village will be conducted at 3 p.m. Registration and a social will start at 5 p.m., followed by a meal at 6 p.m. The cost of the meal is $10. Registration is $5.

District Commander Heather Thompson, of Bottineau Post 42, will preside over the session. Department Commander Clarence Carroll III, of Larimore Post 97, and other department officers will be in attendance.

Legionnaires will be brought up-to-date on upcoming youth activities, such as American Legion Boys State to be held in June on the North Dakota State School of Science campus in Wahpeton and the American Legion baseball season.

Representatives will elect a new district commander and a district vice commander for the 2024-2025 Legion year. Joining the members of the district will be area department committee members, department vice commander and candidates for various Legion offices seeking support at the department convention in Bismarck, June 21-23.

The North Dakota Department of the American Legion encompasses nearly 12,000 Legionnaires, 6,000 Auxiliary and 1,000 Sons of the American Legion throughout posts in 206 North Dakota communities.
