Syttende Mai flag parade celebrates heritage
A Norwegian holiday, Syttende Mai translates to “17th of May,” which commemorates the day of the signing of the Norwegian constitution in 1814. To celebrate, the Sons of Norway, Thor Lodge 4-067, held a flag parade at the Scandinavian Heritage Park on Friday. Pictured are, from left to right, Helene Anderson, Martha Elliott and Kecia Fagerland, wearing traditional bunads.
Young and old alike participated in the flag parade and sang traditional Norwegian songs during the Syttende Mai celebration on Friday in the Scandinavian Heritage Park in Minot.
