Early Sunday fire damages Minot garage
A fire in southwest Minot on Sunday morning damaged a garage.
Minot Fire Department units were dispatched at 4:47 a.m. to 120 28th St. SW for reports of a garage on fire. Once on scene, crews found a single stall-attached garage engulfed in flames. Crews began extinguishing the fire and quickly stopped the flames from extending into the house.
One ladder truck, three fire engines and one command unit responded to the fire. There were no injuries to the public. One firefighter sustained a minor burn.
The crews were able to rescue two cats that could not escape after the fire started.
The fire remains under further investigation.
People are urged to always include their pets when practicing fire escape plans. If you cannot evacuate your pets, keeping collars on your pets and leashes by an entrance is helpful to ensure a firefighter can easily find them. Also, affix a pet alert window cling with the number of pets in your house and attach it to a front window.
