Minot welcomes 281 youth at State 4-H Archery Match

Ward County 4-H Shooting Sports hosted State 4-H Indoor Archery Championship on April 22 at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds. North Dakota 4-H youth from 23 counties attended. There were 281 youth in attendance; 35 were from Ward County.
Indoor archery matches divide into groups by age and bow type. Ages are Beginner (eight to 10 years old), Junior (11 to 13), and Senior (14 to 18). There is also a Masters division for those at least 14 years old who qualify for a national contest in their age and bow division. The bow divisions are Barebow, which has no sights or releases on the bow, and Freestyle, which holds either a sight or a release.
Results for top places for individuals, teams, and Ward County participants from the match are as follows:
Masters Freestyle division individuals: 1st place – Bennett Schuler, Morton County, with a perfect score of 300; 2nd place – Kadin Beneke, Morton County, 298; 3rd place – Jake Ceynar, McKenzie County, 297 and 40 x’s; 4th place – Clay Ceynar, McKenzie County, 297 and 32 x’s;5th place – Hatley Hetletved, Morton County, 296.
Senior Freestyle division individuals:1st place – Parker Zimmerman, McIntosh County, with a score of 298; 2nd place – Kendra Boehm, Morton County, 295; 3rd place – Abigail Ferguson, Williams County, 294; 4th place – Jaxon Heilman, Pierce County, 291; 5th place – Rita Braun, Morton County, 290; 6th place – Dawson Beadle, McKenzie County, 289; 7th place – James McGrath, Morton County, 287; 8th place – Katie Schmidt, Hettinger County, 283; 9th place – Jaden Henning, Dickey County, 282 and 21 x’s; 10th place – Monica Yoder, Pierce County, 282 and 16 x’s. Senior Freestyle division teams: 1st place team – Boehm, Braun, McGrath, and Tanner Frieze from Morton County with a combined score of 872 points; 2nd place team – Beadle, Dylon Cargo, Ryan Pingle, and Hailey Wendlandt from McKenzie County, 849 points; 3rd place team – Nova Morton, Kadence Reindel, K. Schmidt, and Mark Schmidt from Hettinger County, 834 points.
Senior Barebow division individuals: 1st place – James Dahl, Emmons County, with a score of 275; 2nd place – Jayden Diffely, McLean County, 271; 3rd place – Kenaday Gross, McIntosh County, 267; 4th place – J. Keith, and Kaleb Reindel from Hettinger County, 441 points; 3rd place team – Matthew Arnston, Raegan Hager, Brandie Yoder, and A. Williams from Pierce County, 419 points.
