Volunteers sought for citywide cleanup

Environmentally Minded People of Minot, in partnership with the Minot State University Sustainability Committee and Biology Club, is hosting a communitywide litter clean-up event on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Volunteers will meet at one of five locations around the City of Minot and disperse from there to surrounding neighborhoods and roadways to pick up litter. Large trash bags will be provided. Volunteers should bring their own gloves and any other tools they prefer to use. Masks are expected per public health guidelines and community norms. There is also an at-home option for people wishing to do so.

“Minot is full of people who take pride in the way our community looks,” said event co-coordinator Katrina Jennings. “This event helps all of us to keep our streets, public spaces and waterways free of litter and trash.”

Community members who are interested in volunteering are encouraged to sign up at volunteersignup.org/3FBHX or by e-mailing event coordinators at environmentminot@gmail.com to help with planning. Won’t know your availability until the last second? Walk-on volunteers are welcome at any of the following meeting locations the day of the event:

– Cash Wise Foods parking lot, northeast corner (Southwest Minot)

– Corbett Field parking lot (east Minot)

– The Depot parking lot (downtown)

– Scandinavian Heritage Park parking lot (midtown)

– MSU Northwest Arts Center parking lot (university)
