Special recognition

Richard Reuer, a member of the William G. Carroll Post No. 26 of the Minot American Legion, will be presented with the 2018 Department Commander’s Award during the North Dakota American Legion Winter Conference in Minot later this month.

The award will be presented to Reuer by Karen Meier, Garrison, past Department commander, during the American Legion joint opening session Jan. 25 beginning at 7 p.m.

Reuer will be honored for his work with various programs including setting up the organization and conducting the annual Wreaths Across America program in Minot, setting up a POW/MIA display at the Grand Hotel, visiting local nursing homes each month and coordinating local events for Memorial Day, Veterans Day, POW/MIA Day, Medal of Honor Day and others.

Reuer has been Minot Post chaplain for eight years. He is also public relations officer for the post and is a member of the Post’s Honor Guard.

“I wish to add my personal congratulations on this most deserving recognition of your dedication to the programs and principles of The American Legion,” said Department Commander Glenn Wahus of Watford City, in a letter to Reuer.

“I just enjoy what I do and I do it for the Lord,” said Reuer about receiving the award.
