2017 ND State Fair Parade winners

Winners of the 2017 North Dakota State Fair Parade have been announced.

The parade with 212 units was held in Minot Saturday. Units pay a fee to be judged.

The award, winning unit and award sponsor are as follows:

Grand Marshal Overall Winner – Dig It Up Backhoe Service Inc., sponsored by Northland Bus Service.

Roughrider Award Best Equestrian – Minot Trail Riders, sponsored by 5 Spot Bar, Stanley.

Flickertail Award Best Musical Group – Rock the Leaves, sponsored by Gate City Bank.

Chairman’s Award Best Commercial Theme – Styles Inc., sponsored by Verendrye Electric.

Governor’s Award Best Non-Commercial Theme – Roosevelt Park Zoo, sponsored by Prairie Federal Credit Union.

Youth Sweepstakes Award Best Youth Entry – Nedrose High School, sponsored by Gem Federal Credit Union.

Parade Committee Award Most Humorous – North Dakota Clowns, sponsored by Town & Country Credit Union.

Heritage Award Depicting N.D. Heritage – Makoti Threshing, sponsored by Gooseneck Implement.

Pioneer Award Best Antique Vehicle – Phil Deplazes 1975 Pontiac Catalina, sponsored by Farmers Union Insurance.

Lewis and Clark Award Best Military Unit – Minot VFW Post 753, sponsored by Leader Bar, Stanley.

Parade judges were Sally Brown, Joan Vetter, Ann Schoader, Wendy Muto, Heidie Clarke and Richard Sabol.
