Trinity launches online patient portal Friday

Starting Friday, patients of Trinity Health will be able to access their health information online.

David Wanner, vice president and chief information officer for Trinity Health, said the Minot-based health system will “go live” Aug. 1 with an online patient portal that gives patients secure Internet access to their health information.

“Trinity Health has long been in the vanguard of the digital revolution in healthcare. We’re pleased to be among the first to provide this convenience to our patients,” Wanner said.

“We recognize that people are becoming active decisionmakers in their healthcare. This portal is a tool that will help them become more informed and engaged, and ultimately help lead to healthier communities throughout our region,” he said.

People will be able to access the portal through Trinity’s main website at trinityhealth.org. The online portal will use the latest encryption technology and patients can be confident that their private health information will be protected, Wanner said.

Launch of the portal will begin with a registration process that invites patients to register for an account in person and establish a secure user name and password. The “in person” registration process is necessary so that ID may be verified, Wanner added.

“Once registered, people will be able to view their health information including lab results, medications, immunizations and allergies,” he said. “Patients also will be able to communicate with their caregivers and even request appointments and prescription renewals.”

Additional capabilities may be added to the portal as it is developed, providing added value to the online experience.
