President of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod to speak in Fargo

The Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison, president of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, will be a featured speaker at the upcoming Faith in Action Mercy Conference on Oct. 27 in Fargo. NEW DELHI (AP) — India's government on Wednesday approved an ordinance to implement a top court ruling striking down the Muslim practice that allows men to instantly divorce. The government decision came after it failed to get approval from Parliament a year after the court ruled that the practice of allowing men to divorce by simply uttering the Arabic word for divorce — "talaq" — three times violated the constitutional rights of Muslim women. Men’s Winter Refuge seeks volunteer nurse

The Men’s Winter Refuge is seeking a licensed nurse who is available to volunteer four to five hours per week at the men’s homeless shelter. The shelter is open for six months, from Nov. 1 to April 30. Duties would include giving breathalyzer tests and doing intake interviews with new residents with an occasional follow-up interview. Hours would be in the evening, roughly between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. People who are interested or who would like more information are asked to contact either of the current volunteer nurses, Evie Probst, at 537-4032, or Nancy Vitko, at 720-9498.
