Minot rolls out new bus routes

New Southwest and North bus routes in Minot will begin operating Monday, according to the City of Minot. The Southwest route will leave Minot Municipal Auditorium to go south on Sixth Street Southwest to cover the area lost to the changed Southeast route. It will travel along 20th Avenue Southwest to service the businesses along that corridor, then continue south on 16th Street Southwest and west on 36th Avenue Southwest to provide service to Trinity Hospital. Job Corps to host community open house

The Quentin N. Burdick Job Corps Center will host a summer open house for the community Tuesday, June 25, from 4-7 p.m. at the center at 1500 University Ave. W. There will be food, entertainment, interactive trade booths and tours available. Trades offered at the center are automotive, certified nursing assistant, culinary, carpentry, office administration, welding and business construction technology. Job Corps, which has had a presence in Minot for 30 years, is a free career training program for youth ages 16 to 24 who qualify.

Funds available for pantry, shelter programs

Central North Dakota has been chosen to receive funding from EFSP Phase 41 Funds to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the counties of Bottineau, Burke, McHenry, Mountrail, Pierce, Renville and Ward. Community Action celebrates 60 years with coloring contest

May is recognized as Community Action Month and to celebrate its 60th anniversary, Community Action of Minot held a coloring contest. A total of 96 coloring pages were entered, and the two winners were picked at random. The winners are third graders at Longfellow Elementary School, McKenzie Saunders and Martel Diop. Prizes included new backpacks, notebooks, coloring books, markers, toothbrushes, toothpaste and paint.
