On to the next chapter in my life

Over the course of the last eight years, I have been lucky enough to have had the opportunity to cover high school sports and junior college athletics in North Dakota. Over this time, I have met tons of people, developed a lot of relationships and created life-long friends. But as the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Friday was my last day at the Minot Daily News, and as you are reading this I am in the midst of beginning a new chapter in my life. While I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag as to what my future plans are, I will say that circumstances ...

JONES: Region 6 volleyball title is wide open

Believe it or not, exactly one month from today (Aug. 14), high school volleyball teams around the state will begin practice. While there is always excitement and optimism at the beginning of a new year, that sentiment may never be more true than in Class B Region 6 for the 2017 season. The Our Redeemer’s Christian School volleyball team, the three-time Region 6 champion, has taken a bit of a hit with the graduation of all-state performers Lauren Hendrickson and Morgan Olson. They accumulated 42 wins during the 2015-16 season, after 52 wins (2014-15), 64 wins (2013-14) and 59 wins ...

Tonight’s District 12 tourney title game is bound to be memorable

When Bishop Ryan and Our Redeemer’s Christian School take to the hardwood this evening at the Minot Municipal Auditorium in the Class B District 12 boys basketball tournament title game, an obvious question has to be asked - will it come down to a last second shot? When it comes to district tournament play, the Knights have kind of made it a habit to leave everyone in suspense until the very end. Saturday night’s game-winning basket by the Knights’ Jayden Wetzel is just the latest moment to remind us that March Madness isn’t limited to a single month, and is certainly not ...

EISEN: Streaking Beavers thrive when game is on the line

Winning 16 straight games and narrowly escaping defeat time and time again is not only an outlandish plot for a would be award-winning television series, but is currently real life for the No. 1-ranked Minot State men’s hockey team. Some can argue that they have been getting lucky, but ...
