Sertoma T-ball League raising money for Full STEAM Ahead
A Minot T-ball league is making a difference in the community.
Over the last four years, the Sertoma T-Ball League’s proceeds have supported Minot’s Full STEAM Ahead program. The league is open for ages three to six.
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. Minot’s Full STEAM Ahead organization was established in 2017.
“My favorite part about (the league) is seeing these little ones take the field alongside their friends and newfound friends,” executive director Allison Auch said. “It’s a bit of organized chaos, but the children are learning at such a young age.”
Young ballplayers have benefited on the diamond and in the classroom. STEAM’s focus on science, technology and other crucial areas has allowed children to learn about robotics, cyber security, coding, and more.
According to Auch, 610 children participated last year. Last summer, Minot’s Sertoma Club joined as a sponsor and donated $7,500.
This year, the organization will donate $10,000.
“Everything from team sponsors to the $30 a child pays to participate supports the youth of our community in a much bigger way,” Auch said.
The league is currently recruiting coaches. Auch said it will likely open for registration in March.
