The Minot North girls soccer team had the opportunity to secure the West Region’s No. 3 seed and make its path at the state tournament a bit friendlier, and the Sentinels did just that. In their final game before the state tournament next week, the Sentinels scored four goals in the second half to break a halftime stalemate, defeating Bismarck Legacy, 5-2, on Thursday, May 21, at Sanford Sports Complex. Girls Soccer: Majettes wallop Williston with 11-goal barrage

Kynsli Gillmore is used to preventing goals, not scoring them. But the Minot High goalkeeper got the opportunity to contribute to the offense and she took advantage. Gillmore netted a goal in the 56th minute and assisted on another as the Majettes put up a season-high in goals in an 11-0 victory over Williston on Thursday, May 21. Prep Baseball: Sentinels, Magicians semifinal matchup postponed

The Minot High and Minot North baseball teams will have to wait another day before squaring off for both a spot in the WDA Tournament title game as well as a berth in the state tournament after inclement weather postponed their semifinal matchup. They will play on Saturday, May 23, at 1:30 p.m. The Sentinels advanced to the semifinal round by winning a pitcher’s duel against seventh-seeded Williston in the quarterfinals. Prep Softball: Minot North comeback falls short in elimination game

The Minot North softball team saw its season come to an end with a 4-3 loss to Jamestown in an elimination game at the WDA Tournament on Friday, May 22, at Williston State College. The Sentinels fell behind 3-0 after three, but closed to within a run in the final inning. Minot North entered the top of the seventh trailing 4-2 and down to its final three outs. The Velva-Drake-Anamoose softball team saved one of its best offensive games with the Region 4 championship title on the line, tying a season-high in runs in a 21-6 victory over top-seeded Beulah on Thursday, May 21, in Wilton to earn a trip to the state tournament. The second-seeded Aggies (18-5) avenged their loss to the Miners during the regular season in which they were held to just a single run in a 5-1 loss.
