Majettes secure conference second seed

The Minot High Majettes took on the Bismarck Century High School Patriots in their last regular season game on Tuesday, Nov. 4, dropping the match 3-0 and securing their conference second seed placement ahead of next week’s tournament.

Century High School took charge early with the first set of the match and won it handily 25-16. The second set of the match started off better for the Majettes. They took their first point of the set and an early lead 3-1, but the Patriots were able to tie the set 4-4, before taking the lead and holding it to the end of the set. The Majettes fought back, and got as close as 21-19 before the Patriots were able to secure the match point and end the set 25-20.

The third set of the match looked even more favorable for the Majettes, starting with a 2-0 lead for Minot High. The Majeetes were as much as four points ahead in the early rallies, taking their widest lead at 8-4. Afterwards, Century made their way back to tie the Majettes 14-14 and took a definitive lead at 17-16. The set ended with another 25-20 victory for the Patriots, securing them the victory in both teams’ last regular season game. Century secured their top seed in the conference tournament with their conference record of 17-1 and their season record of 28-2. Minot High ended the night with their fifth conference loss of the regular season with a 13-5 record. Their season record ended 19-12. The Minot High Majettes will enter the conference tournament with the second seed. They will play their quarterfinal game at Mandan High School on Thursday, Nov. 13, against a currently undetermined opponent.
