Majettes dominate final home swim meet with 370 points

The Minot High Majettes took home victory in their last home swim and dive meet of the 2025 season over Jamestown, Williston and Minot North Thursday, Oct. 30, for senior night.

The Majettes ended the meet with an overall score of 370, coming in ahead of second place finisher Williston with 274 points. The Minot North Sentinels took home third place with an overall score of 257 and Jamestown ended the night in fourth with 218 points.

The meet started with the Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay and Minot High secured their first victory of the night with a time of two minutes 1.12 seconds for their A team.

Williston’s A team ended the relay with a time of two minutes 1.56 seconds for a close second place finish, team A from Minot North came in third with a time of two minutes 11.46 seconds and Jamestown’s A team ended fourth with a time of two minutes 12.04 seconds.

The Majettes continued their domination in the Girls 200 Yard Freestyle swim, taking the top four spots.

Senior Samantha VonBokern took first in the event with a time of one minute 59.40 seconds. She was the only swimmer to break two minutes. Minot’s sophomore Kirby Quam took second place with a time of two minutes 6.92 seconds, freshman Madisyn Racine took third with a time of two minutes 12.33 seconds and sophomore Ella Johnson rounded out the Majettes’ top four with a time of two minutes 13.25 seconds.

Junior Ellia Gemar from Minot North was the only outside swimmer to make the top five in the event with her time of two minutes 13.49 seconds.

Williston freshman Norah Pierce put an end to the Majettes’ first place win streak with her two minute 26.76 second time in the Girls 200 Yard Individual Medley.

Though the Majettes would occupy the next three placements in the event. Senior Dru Zander tied the number of first place finishes for Williston with her victory in the Girls 50 Yard Freestyle swim with her time of 25.76 seconds.

After the 50 Yard Freestyle, the athletes were given a short break as Minot High took the time to honor their senior members of the team, offering them a flower and their thanks for their hard work and dedication to the team.

The meet’s events continued with the one meter dive where junior Gracyn Bergan gave Minot High their third first place finish of the night with a score of 285.15.

Bergan earned more than 65 points more than the second place finisher in the event.

Samantha VonBokern earned another first place finish for herself and the Majettes in the Girls 100 Yard Fly swim with her time of one minute 0.31 seconds.

The event was another dominant one for Minot High with their swimmers taking the top four spots.

Williston’s Dru Zander also earned her second victory of the night on the 100 Yard Free with her time of 55.86 seconds.

Junior Ellia Gemar earned her first victory of the night and Minot North’s first victory in the Girls 500 Yard Free with a time of six minutes 7.19 seconds.

The Majettes returned to their winning ways in the Girls 200 Yard Free Relay, taking first with their time of one minute 44.41 seconds.

Kirby Quam earned the Majettes another first place finish with her time of one minute 6.14 seconds in the Girls 100 Yard Back and senior Zoe Bahr gave Minot North their second first place finish with her time of one minute 16.58 seconds in the Girls 100 Yard Breaststroke.

The last event of the meet was the Girls 400 Yard Free Relay where the Majettes rounded out their night with another first place finish. Their time in the event was three minutes 55.57 seconds. They were the only team to break our minutes.

Senior Samantha VonBokern was the top scorer for the Majettes on Thursday night, earning 32 points to help Minot High secure the victory in their last home meet of the season.

The Majettes’ next meet will be at the Western Dakota Association Championships held in Mandan.

The WDA Championships will feature teams from around the conference and will begin on Friday, Nov. 7, at the Mandan Aquatic Center.
