Aggies to host Cardinals in semis

The semifinals are set for the 2024 NDHSAA Class A football playoffs.

On Saturday, November 9, the region 1 second seeded Central Cass will travel to the region 1, top seeded Kindred for the first semifinal game. Kindred is the top ranked team in the state with an 11-0 record while Central Cass is the fourth ranked team with a 10-1 record.

The region 2, top seeded Langdon/Edmore/Munich team, with a 9-2 record, will travel to face the region 3, top seeded Velva/Garrison/Drake-Anamoose team that has a 9-1 record.

Velva/Garrison/Drake-Anamoose 44, Harvey-Wells County 13

The Harvey-Wells County Hornets made the trip to face the second ranked Aggies at Velva high school. The seventh ranked Hornets looked ready to play and were physical in the run game, threw the ball well on big plays but were unable to slow or stifle the offense of Velva/Garrison/Drake-Anamoose in the quarterfinal loss.

The Aggies scored first with 8:28 left in the first quarter for the 8-0 lead. Nearly eight minutes later, the Hornets narrowed the score with a touchdown and PAT for the Aggies to lead 8-7 as the first quarter wound down.

Less than three minutes into the second quarter, Velva added another score with a two point conversion for the 16-7 lead that they would not relinquish. With 5:50 left in the first half, Velva posted another score for the 22-7 lead.

After a defensive stop of the Hornets, the Aggies took the ball into the endzone again for the 30-7 lead and just over half a minute to play in the second quarter.

Both teams had big plays in the passing game with receivers making catches despite being covered well by defenders. The home team just made more of those big plays in the game.

The Aggies scored once in the third quarter and once in the fourth while the Hornets posted one score in the second half in the loss.

The Aggies will host Langdon/Edmore/Munich on Saturday, November 9, in the 2024 NDHSAA semifinal game in the Class A bracket.

Central Cass 29,

Bishop Ryan 28

The fifth ranked Bishop Ryan Lions nearly caught the Central Cass hosts for the upset over the fourth ranked Squirrels only to be edged by Central Cass in the quarterfinal game.

Central Cass will travel to face Kindred for the semifinal game on Saturday, November 9.

Langdon/Edmore/Munich 44, Killdeer 41

The sixth ranked Cardinals made the trip to Killdeer and upset the hosting third ranked Cowboys in a high scoring affair for both home and visiting teams.

Langdon/Edmore/Munich will travel to Velva to face Velva/Garrison/Drake-Anamoose on Saturday, November 9, in the other semifinal game.

Kindred 39,

Shiloh Christian 20

The top ranked Vikings worked the field in all three phases of the quarterfinal game against visiting Shiloh Christian and continued their undefeated season with the win. Kindred earned the right to host Central Cass for the 2024 NDHSAA Class A semifinal matchup.

Central Cass hosted Kindred on September 20 with the Vikings securing the 48-7 road win.
