Honeybees suffer tough road loss against Madison
LA CROSSE, Wis – Fresh off the backs of their July 4 doubleheader matchup against Madison Night Mares, the Minot Hot Tots (3-11) continued their road span at the La Crosse Steam (3-10) in a July, 5, contest. The game ended with a 10-0 win for the home team.
Things got started in the bottom of the first inning when La Crosse got hold of the lead, putting up three runs on the scoreboard. Ashlee Chantos scored the game opening run on Grace Frechette double to right field. A few moments later Frechette scored on Rachel Mori put out as La Crosse led by a 2-0 score. The final run of the innings came on a Alexis Watson single to right field, allowing Avary Makarewicz to score. La Crosse led 3-0 after the first inning.
Any chance of the game being competitive was put in doubt during the bottom of the second inning where La Crosse scored by more runs to take an 8-0 lead. Teagan Graul scored off a bases loaded walk to make it 4-0 La Crosse as Calli Janik advanced to first base. Makarewicz double to left field allowed two more runs to be scored with Lindsey Shultz and Frechette coming across home plate to make it a 6-0 La Crosse.
A Mori single to center field allowed Janik and Makarewicz to score as La Crosse led 8-0 at the end of the second. La Crosse scored run number nine and ten on a Frechette single to center field, allowing Graul and Ashlee Chantos to both score.
The Honeybees batted 7-for-25 and had zero errors. Abbie Stigler batted 2-for-3. Trinity Gregg walked once. Sydney Farmer batted 1-for-3. Shayna Myshrall walked once. Syler Dietz batted 2-for-3. Victoria Flores batted 1-for-3. Caitlyn Dannenfelzer batted 1-for-3.
Peyton Whitehead pitched one and one-thirds innings, allowed three hits, five runs, and walked three. Jackie Albrecht pitched one and two-thirds, allowed two hits, three runs, walked two and struck out three batters. Jasmine Blizzard pitched two and two-third innings, allowed one hit, one run and struck out three batters. KierraFournier pitched less than an inning, allowed one hit, one run and walked one.
La Cross batted 7-for-22 and had zero errors. Chantos batted 1-for-3, scored two runs, and walked once. Frechette batted 2-for-3, scored two runs, had three RBI and walked once. Janik scored a run, had an RBI and walked twice. Makarewicz batted 1-for- 3, scored two runs and had two RBI. Mori batted 1-for-3 and had three RBI. Watson batted 1-for-3 and had an RBI. Graul batted 1-for-2, scored two runs and walked once. Schultz scored a run and walked once.
Mackenzie Willis pitched six innings, allowed seven hits, walked two and struck out eight batters.
The Honeybees next name will be on Wednesday, July 10, when they return home to Corbett Field to take on the La Crosse Steam in a double header, which will be followed by another double header on Thursday, July 11, as the two teams compete in a four game series next week.
