The Minot State University softball team continued its dominance over cross-state rivals the University of Mary Marauders, sweeping a double-header on Tuesday at the MSU Bubble to record their 15th straight win over the visitors.

Reegan Floyd pitched a complete game, one-hit shutout for the Beavers in the opening game, as Minot State prevailed 8-0. Floyd recorded four strikeouts and no walks in the win.

Catcher Anna LaCount scored two runs and recorded two RBIs in the opener to lead the Beavers.

Minot State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first, fueled by LaCount’s two-run single. It then used a four-run third inning to take control of the game, LaCount scored off of a Taylor Eatherton single. Taryn Bennett, Taylor Eatherton and Kilee Fehd all added runs in the inning for Minot State.

Brooklyn Morrison scored on a LaCount double in the bottom of the sixth to end the game with Minot State on top 8-0.

Fehd finished with three RBIs to lead Minot State. Two of the Minot State runs were unearned.

Anna Johnson got the start for the University of Mary, giving up seven runs in 2 1/3 innings, five earned, on eight hits, while walking one and striking out one. Whitney Carnes came on in relief and gave up one run on three hits, while walking one and recording one strikeout.

Minot State continued its dominance of the Marauders in the nightcap, recording a 7-2 win behind five solid innings on the mound from Calley Olson, who picked up her second in on the year. Olson gave up two earned runs on seven hits, while striking out two batters and also walking two.

Gabi Dawyduk pitched two shutout innings of relief for the Beavers in the win. All six batters she faced were forced into ground outs.

The offense was evenly distributed for Minot State, as six different players scored runs, led by Sara Van Wickler, who scored twice. Others scoring for the Beavers were Izzy Penner, Paige Kellog, Laura DeGuzman, Taylor Smith and Courtney Chaburn.

Like the first game, Minot State jumped out to an 3-0 lead after one inning, and added another run in the second, before adding three runs in the fifth in the win.

The Marauders scored two runs in the fourth inning, as both Jaraya Diaz and Sariah Perez scored to prevent the shutout.

Hannah Chambers took the loss, giving up three earned runs off of two hits, while walking one. Nicole Eckhardt pitched 4 1/3 innings, and gave up three runs off of five hits. Eckhardt struck out four batters while walking six. Emari Evanx pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief and gave up one run on two hits, while striking out two and walking two batters.

The wins improve Minot State’s season record to 13-9 overall and 8-2 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The University of Mary drops to 7-23 overall and 0-8 in NSIC play.

The Beavers embark on a four-game road trip, with double-headers on Saturday at Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D. and Northern State University on Wednesday, April 10, before returning home for a doubleheader against Concordia University, St. Paul on Saturday, April 13.
