Minot State invites public to meet coaching candidates

The search for the newest head women’s basketball coach at Minot State is winding down and Beaver Athletics wants the public to meet two finalists for the position.

Candidates Ryan Clark and Bridgeport Tusler will each be on the Minot State campus for in-person interviews next week. The Beavers will hold open forums with the public from 2-3 p.m. in the Conference Center on the 3rd floor of the Minot State Student Center.

Clark will be on campus on Monday, April 8, and Tusler will be on campus Wednesday, April 10.

The two finalists were selected by a search committee that included members of Minot State faculty, staff, student-athletes, and community members.

A native of Adelaide, Australia, Coach Clark is familiar to Minot State fans as he spent two years as an assistant coach previously with the Beavers.

Currently Clark is the women’s basketball head coach and assistant athletic director at Lake Region State College where in two seasons his team has a 40-24 overall record and maintained a GPA above 3.35.

Prior to serving as head coach at LRSC, Clark spent one season as an assistant at Northern State and two seasons as an assistant at Minot State, which included a brief stint as interim head coach for the women’s basketball program.

He also spent one season as an assistant at Dickinson State where he played basketball and earned his Bachelor’s in Business Administration after starting his collegiate career at LRSC. He earned his Master’s in Sports Management from Minot State in the spring of 2020.

Tusler is currently the head coach at Crown College, an NCAA Division III program in St. Bonifacius, Minn., where he helped the Polars to 21 wins over the past two seasons and a fourth-place finish at the National Christian College Athletic Association national tournament this past winter.

Prior to his current role, Coach Tusler was an assistant coach for a season for the men’s basketball team at Macalester College (Minn.), and spent the summer of 2017 where he worked as an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs’ NBA Summer League team.

Tusler started his collegiate career playing football at South Dakota State before transferring to Bethel (Minn.) where he played basketball and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biblical and Theological Studies with a minor in Physical Education. He will receive his Master’s in Sports Coaching and Administration from Crown this summer.
