Minot pushes unbeaten streak to 54 games

The Fargo Shanley Deacons (2-1, 2-0) were the latest team attempting to make history by stopping the unbeaten streak currently being added to by the Minot High Majettes (3-0, 2-0) soccer team. After a scoreless first half, the Majettes scored three unanswered goals to extend the team’s unbeaten streak to 54 games.

The victory marked the third straight game this season a player had more than one goal – on Saturday, it was sophomore Jayva MiKibben who scored two; that Minot High shutout an opponent, and that senior Emerson Perrin scored a goal.

MiKibben scored for Minot High at the 45th minute mark with an unassisted goal. Two minutes later, junior Morgan Forthun sent a pass to Perrin for her score. Then, in the 66th minute of play, Forthun again assisted in a goal and this score was by MiKibben to close out the game’s scoring.

Kinsli Gilmore had four saves on the day to maintain a perfect save record. On the season, Gilmore is 16-16 on conference games and 4-4 on non conference games.

Early in the season, Perrin leads the Majettes with seven points in conference games and one point outside the Western Dakota Association (WDA) schedule. MiKibben has two points in conference and two points outside of WDA games. As a team, the Majettes have scored ten goals and allowed none overall.

Minot High will host the Dickinson Midgets (0-2) this week on Tuesday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. weather permitting.
