Minot Junior Golf adds new director of golf programming

Five years ago, Parker Bartels was lifting back-to-back state championship trophies as a member of Kindred High School’s boys golf team while winning an individual championship for himself.

This May, after he graduates from St. John’s University, in Collegeville, Minn., Bartels will use his successful youth and collegiate career to help Minot area youth replicate his success when he becomes the new Director of Golf Programming for the Minot Junior Golf Association.

“Junior golf has always been a huge passion of mine, and I am excited for the opportunity to grow the game of golf in Minot,” said Bartels, a native of Oxbow.

As the director of golf programming, Bartels will help oversee a range of golf instruction, including group lessons, leagues and tournaments. The MJGA serves golfers from high school age down to grade school and below.

“We are extremely excited to have Parker oversee junior golf programming at both [facilities],” said Reed Argent, President of the MJGA. “Parker will be a huge asset to MJGA and will assist in furthering our mission to promote junior golf in the Minot area year-round.”
