Amici’s commitment puts Tauros at milestone

The Minot Minotauros reached a milestone on Friday when they announced that forward Kolby Amici has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Bentley University in Waltham, Mass.

With the commitment to Bentley University, Amici becomes the 100th player in franchise history to commit to an NCAA Division I school.

Bentley University plays in the Atlantic Hockey Association, a conference that is composed of 11 teams primarily in the east coast area, plus the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Amici came to Minot via a trade with the El Paso Rhinos last February, as an effort to bring veteran leadership and experience to a team that was pushing for a playoff spot.

Minotauros head coach and general manager Cody Campbell was rewarded for the acquisition, as the team was able to secure a spot in the Robertson Cup Playoffs with the help of Amici after he came to the Magic City.

In 20 regular season games with the Minotauros, Amici totaled 12 points on five goals and seven assists.

Since their first season in 2011-12, the Minotauros continue to not only find success on the ice by having made nine playoff appearances, but also find success in helping athletes make it to the next level with their 100th NCAA Division I commitment in Kolby Amici.
