Minot drivers display strong showing at Nodak Speedway

Sunday night presented a Father’s Day celebration at Nodak Speedway, as dads and race fans from around the area got to spend their night at the Playground of Power for a loaded slate of heat and feature races.

In a thrilling, non-stop night of action, those in attendance were treated to races for Western Renegades, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Hobby Stocks and IMCA SportMods.

The first feature race of the night belonged to the Hobby Stocks, with Alex Tvedt in the No. 103 car from Minot taking first place. Kyler Satran from Minot in the No. 22 car and Brennor Grinstead from Stanley in the No. 51X car rounded out the top three of the feature race.

Darren Medler from Minot in the No. 74 car took first place in the 20-lap, SportMods feature race. Brock Beeter from Minot in the No. 48 car and Gabriel Deschamp from Bottineau in the No. 21D car took second and third place, respectively.

Holding a 20-lap feature race as well were the Stock Cars, where Will Scheresky in the No. 77 car from Max took first place. Behind Scheresky was Mike Hagen from Williston in the No. 27X car and Austin Daae from Saskatchewan in the No. 17 car who finished in second and third place.

Taking first place in the Modifieds 25-lap feature race was Drew Christianson in the No. 29 car from Minot, with Aaron Turnbull in the No. 21 car from Saskatchewan and Brady Bjella in the No. 99 car from Williston taking second and third place.

The final feature race involved a 20-lap show for the Western Renegades. Taking first place was Dusty Lawson in the No. 20L car from Minot, with Myles Tomlinson in the No. 15T car from Turtle Lake and Eric Guyot in the No. 25 car from Manitoba rounding out the top three.

As we inch closer to the July schedule, here are the standings for each group. Standings are as of June 4 unless stated otherwise.

Caden Appelt from Minot in the No. 70 car is leading the way for Hobby Stocks with 80 points, followed by Andrew Bertsch from Minot in the No. 148 car with 78 points and Kyler Satran from Minot in the No. 22 car with 76 points.

Travis Hagen in the No. 14T car from Williston owns the top spot in Modifieds with 118 points, followed by Jason Wolla in the No. 27W car from Ray with 116 points and Drew Christianson in the No. 29 car from Minot with 112 points.

As of May 29, Christopher Zenz in the No. 69Z car from Max leads the Northern SportMod group with 74 points, followed by Gabriel Deschamp in the No. 21D car from Bottineau with 71 points and Levi Wald in the No. 11B car from Surrey with 66 points.

Lastly, as of June 11, Adam Goff in the No. 30A car from Minot is leading the way in Stock Cards with 152 points, followed by Joe Flory in the No. 20 car from Williston with 151 points and Joren Boyce in the No. 67 car from Minot with 145 points.

The show will continue at the Playground of Power on Sunday, June 25 when drivers take the track to keep pushing up the standings. Races will start at 7 p.m. that night.
