Magi swim and dive cruise to win at Mandan Pentathlon

After weather threw the early goings of the 2022-23 season for the Minot High boys’ swim and dive team off its course, the Magi were finally able to hit the pool again for the first time in what felt like an eternity.

With the opportunity to make a splash once again, Minot High went south of town to participate in the Mandan Pentathlon on Thursday, where the team showed that extended time off would not prevent them from orchestrating a great performance.

In a field that consisted of Minot High, Bismarck High, Century, Legacy, and Mandan, the Magi took the top spot with an overall team score of 353.5. The next closest team, Bismarck High, finished with a score of 214.

On an individual level, Minot had a plethora of athletes that made their mark in the pools. Jaxon Reinke (100-yard butterfly), Paradorn Roongin (100-yard breaststroke), Alex King (100-yard freestyle), and Ty Ross (1 mtr diving) all finished in first place for their events.

In addition to the first-place finishers, the Magi had another nine athletes finish in the top three of their individual events.

Reinke, King, and Ryan Hubbard made up the full top three for the 100-yard butterfly, and Roongin, Reinke, and Logan Hill filled out the full top three for the 100-yard breaststroke, showing how impressively competitive the Magi are.
