Skyhawks offense too much for Lions

The Shiloh Christian Skyhawks (23-3) faced the Bishop Ryan Lions (13-6) in a doubleheader at Jack Hoeven field and if there was ever a day when every hit ball landed in a glove, it was in game one with the Skyhawks winning 8-0 and with the weather delaying game two, Shiloh Christian held a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning of play when lightning sent the teams under cover.

Shiloh Christian 8, Bishop Ryan 0

The Skyhawks posted three runs in the top of the second inning and another three runs in the top of the fifth inning of play. Shiloh Christian was able to add two more runs in the top of the sixth inning of play for the 8-0 win.

Skyhawk eighth grader Jack Pelham was 3-for-3 at the plate in the first game while senior Michael Fagerland was 2-for-4 batting. As a team, Shiloh Christian was 8-for-28 in the win. Junior Evan Fuchs pitched three innings with one hit and no runs allowed. Junior Jace Kunze pitched three innings of relief and allowed two hits and no runs. Combined, the pitchers walked two batters and tallied seven strikeouts.

Bishop Ryan sophomore Jack Passa, juniors Bennet Warren and Ramsey Walz each had a hit in the game. The team was 3-for-22 batting with several hits dropping directly into the awaiting Skyhawk gloves.

The Lions pitched by committee. Passa started the game and pitched three and one-third innings, allowed three runs on two hits with an earned run mark of one. Junior Jett Lundeen pitched two-thirds inning and allowed no runs on no hits with one strikeout. Warren pitched two innings and allowed five runs on six hits with an earned run mark of four. Sophomore Seth Wolf pitched one inning with no runs and no hits.

Shiloh Christian 2, Bishop Ryan 1 (delayed at top of 3rd)

The Skyhawks scored one run at the top of the first inning when Fuchs hit a double to score senior Jacob Pearson who had reached on a fielder’s choice grounder. At the top of the second inning of play, senior Atticus Wilkinson singled and advanced to second on a fielder’s choice on the next batter. Pelham hit a grounder and reached second on an error to score Wilkinson for the Shiloh Christian 2-0 lead.

In the bottom of the second inning, junior Teegan Coonrod walked to reach base. With two out, Coonrod advanced to third on a passed ball. Lions junior Boden Erck hit a grounder to score Coonrod for the 2-1 score.
