Hot Tots head coach named, ready to serve up wins

Baseball fans throughout the Magic City have been served up the name of the Northwoods League team occupying Corbett Field this summer. It’s an exciting time around the area, as the Minot Hot Tots get ready for their inaugural season.

The logo is out there, apparel is available for purchase, now, the team keeps working towards putting all the final ingredients in their recipe for success. One missing ingredient, however, was determining who was going to lead the team in their inaugural season.

This week, the team announced who will be the new leader, as Mitch Gallagher has been named the first ever head coach of the Minot Hot Tots. Gallagher’s baseball experience runs deep as both a player and a coach.

As a player, he played two years at Pepperdine University where he was a part of a team that won two conference championships, as well as playing two years at Xavier University where he helped them win one conference championship.

During his decorated playing career, Gallagher would find himself playing Northwoods League, where he was a member of the inaugural Bismarck Larks team. Additionally, he coached in the Northwoods League serving as the Bismarck Bull Moose head coach in 2020.

In addition to coaching in the Northwoods League, Gallagher spent one season at Palomar College where he was the infield coach. Most recently, he served as the recruiting coordinator at Eastern Florida State College.

Gallagher’s experience as a player and a coach makes him a good fit for the head coaching position with the Hot Tots. Most notably, his experience as a recruiting coordinator will be very beneficial in the sense that he will need to recruit players to Minot to fill out his roster.

“It was important to us to hire a coach that could recruit high-caliber, collegiate baseball players that want to develop and compete, but also someone that would embrace FUN with our fans and in the community,” Hot Tots general manager Monica Blake said through a press release.

For fans who are wanting more information about Gallagher or want to follow along for updates as the Hot Tots get ready for the season, they can do so by going to hottotsbaseball.com.
