Thank you for Hometown magazine

Lucille Loftesnes Granville This is a comment on the Neighbors Hometown publication supplement to your fine newspaper which appeared Sept 24, 2022.  To my liking and to many others, I am certain, there is nothing better than a reason to be AMAZED.  It was truly an AMAZING happening upon receiving the recent Saturday’s supplement “Neighbors Hometown.”  Every single article, citing the citizens and community which were being covered, caused me to feel privileged  as a lifetime ND citizen, by what I read in those pages and pictures!  I learned about places and ...

Term limit measure clarified

Joe Miller Park River In a recent column from our former Lt. Governor, Lloyd Omdahl, a measure on term limits for the Legislature and Governor was discussed.  A myriad of points was made, but one unfortunate error was also made.  Lt. Governor Omdahl was mistaken in his understanding that current legislators will continue to be able to serve an unlimited number of terms, as they are “grandfathered in.”   It should be clarified that current legislators and the current governor will be “grandfathered in” to the law as their past terms will not be counted.  ...

Andrew Alexis Varvel Bismarck I am undecided between Kelly Armstrong and Cara Mund.  I disagree with each candidate on abortion.  My priority is to get federal legislation passed to mandate uterine anaesthesia during abortion, so fetuses don’t get tortured to death.  I have other concerns too. The Democratic-NPL brass recruited pro-life Mark Haugen to run for Congress.  There was another choice – ardently pro-choice Roland Riemers.  Pro-choice activists could have supported Roland Riemers at the convention, saving Mark Haugen from spending over five months of his ...

‘Extreme’ is matter of opinion

Ron Schmidt Tolna “Extreme.” This as a term that I observe to be much more used than in the past. Among my Liberal friends of which there are “extremely” few now, there is the refrain that opposition to abortion is extreme. Strange. If one is opposed to the cessation of a fetal heartbeat and the removal of the fetus from the womb and its consequential destruction a benign act or lack of an act there of is considered extreme. As a single male who never had or wanted children, I don’t have a dog in the fight. Children grow up to be adults, to which sometimes I prefer ...

Karen Ehrens, Former coordinator, Creating a Hunger Free North Dakota and Healthy North Dakota Bismarck September 28, 2022, the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health will be streamed online live across the country from Washington, DC.
