Robert lived a life defined by hard work, passion, and a deep love for his family. Robert grew up in North Dakota and moved to Seattle, Washington in 1965, where he soon began a long and dedicated career with Boeing Aircraft Company. Over 34 years, Robert contributed to some of the most significant aviation programs of his time, including early work on the Supersonic Transport and later the first 747. He remained steadfast through the company’s challenging layoffs in the late 1960s and spent the majority of his career at the Auburn fabrication division.
A highly skilled machinist, Robert earned his way to a Grade 11 level and served as a respected Union Shop Steward in the wing and spare facility. His hands helped shape and assemble thousands of parts for 747s and 737s–work that stands as a lasting testament to his precision, pride, and dedication.
Outside of work, Robert embraced life with equal passion. In the 1970s and early 1980s, he loved motorcycling, both on and off road. Riding was always best with friends and his two boys, creating memories filled with adventure and freedom. Later in life, he reconnected with his roots, rekindling his love of farming by collecting and restoring old farm tractors–a hobby that brought him great joy.
Robert will be remembered as a devoted father, a hardworking craftsman, and a man who found happiness both in the roar of an engine and the steady rhythm of honest work. He is survived by his loving family, who will carry forward his legacy and cherish the many memories he created.
A service to honor Robert’s life will be held at Fulda Cemetery near Rugby, North Dakota, on July 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at the Rugby Eagles Club to visit and share memories. A light meal and refreshments will be provided.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
