Dr Deborah J. Hunter
Doctor Deborah J.
Hunter, passed away
September 24, 2023,
after fighting a coura-
geous 26-year battle
against cancer.
Debby had a Bachelor
of Science from North-
ern Arizona University,
a Bachelor of Chemistry
from Mississippi State
University and received
her Doctorate in Philo-
sophy/Biology from the
University of Utah.
Debby also had a
two-year National Insti-
tute of Health Post-
Doctoral Fellowship.
Debby was a US
Army veteran and re-
ceived the Meritorious
Service Medal for out-
standing performance
as a Biological Research
Assistant in the Depart-
ment of Clinical Inves-
tigation. Debby was a
science instructor at
numerous colleges and
universities. She was
also an environmental
specialist in air compli-
ance, emissions and ha-
zardous waste manage-
ment. She wrote grants
and received funding
for environmental is-
sues and had been pub-
lished in numerous sci-
ence journals. Debby
loved the outdoors, an-
imals and collecting
books.
She is survived by
her son Kelly Hunter,
sisters Tricia Hunter
and Allison Powell and
brother Kim Hunter;
aunts Darlene Peters,
Beverly Aper, Linda
Krupa, Sandra Speers-
tra and uncles Vern
Hunter and Bud
Tryhus.
The burial service
will be held on June
1st, at 2:30 p.m. at the
old Trinity Lutheran
Church and Cemetery,
9999 37th St. NE.,
Minot. A celebration of
life will be held after-
ward at the Minot
Moose Club at 4:30
p.m.
