Maryann Geiger, 89, Minot, ND, formerly of Kenmare, died Monday, July 3, 2023, at Trinity Hospital.
Maryann Stoudt was born August 1, 1933, the daughter of Ernest and Marian (Staley) Stoudt, in Bismarck. At the age of two, the family moved to Fargo for a short time, before settling in Wahpeton in 1935. She was raised and educated in Wahpeton, graduating from Wahpeton High School in 1951. She attended the University of North Dakota, graduating in 1955 with a bachelor’s degree in dietetics. During her time at UND, she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority. Maryann furthered her education at the University of Minnesota as a dietetic intern. She then moved to Milwaukee, WI, where she worked as a dietician for one year.
She married James Geiger in Wahpeton on April 6, 1958. Jim and Maryann first lived in Lawton, OK while Jim completed his military service at Fort Sill. In the fall of 1959, they moved to Kenmare, where she worked in the area as a dietician until her retirement. They moved to Minot in October 2017.
Maryann enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed singing in various choirs over the years, especially the choir at Valle Del Oro in Mesa, AZ, where she and Jim spent many winters. Maryann was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, a member of Ruth Circle for many years, PEO, Wednesday morning coffee group, and several bridge groups. She was also a lifelong member of the Republican Party.
Her loving family includes: husband of 65 years, Jim, Minot; children, Lauri (Todd) Johnson, Minot, J. Jeffrey Geiger, Bismarck, Wendy (Lynn) Keller, Coleharbor; grandchildren, Eric (Ashley) Johnson, Courtney (Tim) Olson, Andrew (Jordan) Keller, McKena Geiger, Austin (Emily) Keller, Allie (Justin Metzger) Geiger; great-grandchildren, Millie Johnson, Ruby Johnson, Kross Keller, Soren Olson; brother, Dr. Robert Stoudt, Cupertino, CA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister-in-law, Sylvia Stoudt.
A family service will be held at a later date.
