Phyllis Howe
Feb. 10, 1938-March 10, 2022
Phyllis Mae Howe, 84,
went home to her Lord on
Thursday, March 10,
2022, at Souris Valley
Care Center, Velva, North
Dakota.
She was born February
10, 1938, in Rugby, North
Dakota to Clara and E.J.
Jelsing. She attended
school in Rugby and later
worked as a waitress. On
October 4th, 1958, she
married Roger Howe.
They farmed on his family
farm working side by side
with Roger. Whether it be
milking, field work, rais-
ing chickens or all the
numerous tasks needed to
run a farm. In addition, to
all the farm work, she
took pride in making her
house a home enjoyed by
many, both family and
friends. In 2002, they
moved to Velva to begin
retirement.
Phyllis was a devoted
wife, mother, grandmoth-
er and great grandmother.
Everyone that knew
Phyllis knew that she be-
lieved her children were
her greatest accomplish-
ment. She was known by
her children and
grandchildren to be the
best cook in the family.
Her homemade buns and
pancakes were a family
favorite. She loved her
country music and real-
ized her dream of going to
Nashville as a gift from
her son, Kevin. In her
spare time, she loved to
read and do embroidery.
And she loved her coffee.
Phyllis was a member
of Oak Valley Lutheran
Church in Velva, but in
later years attended the
Velva Methodist Church
across the street from her
home.
She is survived by her
husband of 63 years,
Roger as well as her three
children. Kevin
(Machelle) Howe, Kimber-
ly (Phillip) Williams, Kar-
la (Michael) Tull. Along
with her six grandchil-
dren, Michael (Jaime)
Howe, Sara (Jason) Lee,
Heather (Ryan) Lowe, Dal-
las (Kayla) Williams, Jus-
tin (Rebecca) Lambert and
Haley Tull. She also
leaves behind 6 great
grandchildren, Ryleigh,
Hadleigh, Finley, Renley
Lowe, Nora Lambert and
Harper Williams.
Phyllis’s surviving si-
blings are Dean and Doug-
las Jelsing.
She is preceded in
death by her parents,
