Dale Uran

March 19, 1929-Feb. 22, 2022

Dale Ernest Uran, 92, of

Stanley, formerly of New

Town, passed away

peacefully Tuesday,

February 22, 2022, at the

Mountrail County Bethel

Home.

Dale, the youngest of

eight children, was born

on March 19, 1929, to

Mary (Clauson) and Sam

Uran, at their farm home

north of Sanish. He at-

tended grade school in a

rural school and high

school in Sanish. In 1944,

Dale moved to Washing-

ton with his parents. In

1946, Dale joined the Mer-

chant Marines and was on

a troopship to France and

Italy. After his tour with

the Merchant Marines in

1947, Dale returned to

Sanish. He then worked

for various farmers, one

being the former ND

governor, Art Link, of the

Alexander area.

Dale married Nina

Nissen on February 27,

1950. They settled at

Dale’s folk’s homestead

farm 13 miles north of

New Town and continued

farming and ranching.

They had eight children:

six girls and two boys.

Dale and Nina moved into

New Town in 1999. Dale

entered the Mountrail

County Bethel Home, in

Stanley, in May of 2018.

In the 1950s, Dale

served on the school

board at the Riverview

country school near their

home. He also had served

on the church council and

the county Farmers Union

Board.

Farming and ranching

was Dale’s passion. For

leisure, he loved rodeos,

playing cards, and listen-

ing to country music. He

also enjoyed square danc-

ing and visiting at New

Town’s Lakeside Senior

Center.

Dale is survived by his

wife of 72 years, Nina;

children, Linda (Bob)

Trandum of New Town,

ND; Patsy (Irvin) Andes of

Parshall, ND; Rodney

Uran of Parkers Prairie,

MN; Ellen Maier of West

Fargo, ND; Carol (Wayne)

Johnson of Palermo, ND;

and Daryl Uran of New

Town, ND; 16 grandchil-

dren, 19

great-grandchildren, and

numerous nieces and

nephews.

Dale was preceded in

death by his parents; si-

blings, Ida, Agnes, May-

nard, Leo, Helen, Mildred,

and Robert; infant

daughter, Susan;

daughter, Diana; grand-

daughter, Jodi Trandum;

grandsons, Monte John-

son and Scott Andes;

son-in-law, Bruce Maier;

and daughter-in-law,

Shelley Uran.

Funeral: Saturday,

March 5, 2022, at 11 a.m.,

at Bethel Lutheran

Church, New Town

Family Service: Friday,

March 4, 2022, at 5 p.m.,

at the church

Visitation: Friday from

3-5 p.m. at the church

Interment: Van Hook
