Joyce Keyes
July 31, 1941-Oct. 22, 2021
Joyce Keyes, 80, of
Minot, ND, died peaceful-
ly surrounded by her lov-
ing family on Friday, Oc-
tober 22, 2021, at Trinity
Hospital, Minot.
Joyce M. Volk, daughter
of Steve and Veronica
(Adam) Volk, was born on
July 31st, 1941, in Drake,
ND. She was the third of
eleven children so she
started working various
jobs at a young age to help
support her family.
On July 11, 1959 Joyce
married James A. Keyes.
They made their home in
Minot where they raised
their four children. From
1961-1964, Jim and Joyce
owned and operated the
Pantry Cafe.
In 1973, Joyce went to
work for Minot Public
Schools in nutritional ser-
vices. She worked with
MPS for 21 years and then
went to work at Edgewood
Vista for a few years be-
fore retiring.
Joyce’s life revolved
around family and her
love for the Lord. When
her family was together,
they enjoyed visiting and
playing an occasional
action-packed game of Pi-
nochle. If Joyce wasn’t
able to spend time with
her family in person, she
would be visiting them on
the phone. In her spare
time at home, you would
find Joyce saying the
rosary or watching the sis-
ters on EWTN. She was a
true Prayer Warrior.
Jim and Joyce were
members of Little Flower
Catholic Church until Jim
passed away in December
of 2012. After his death,
Joyce joined Our Lady of
Grace Catholic Church
where she was currently
an active member. She
was also a member of the
Moose Lodge and an avid
Bingo player.
