Edmund Hager

Edmund Hager, 89 of

Rugby, North Dakota died

Monday, April 12, 2021

following a courageous

struggle with Parkinson’s

Disease surrounded by his

family at the Heart of

America Care Center in

Rugby. He was born to

Mike and Felicitis (Kren-

zel) Hager on January 21,

1932 in rural Orrin, North

Dakota. Edmund was

raised on the family farm

in southern Pierce County

and received a country

school education in Hill-

side Township. He was

united in marriage to

Delores Gumeringer on

June 17, 1957 at Es-

mond, North Dakota.

The couple made their

home on the Hager family

farm where they raised

their family, farmed and

rancheduntil moving to

Rugby in 2013. Edmund

was a lifetime farmer in

Pierce County and im-

mensely proud of the

crops and cattle he raised

while maintaining the

family farm. He was

honored as a recipient of

the Pierce County Agri-

culturist award. Edmund,

a man of faith, was a

long-time member of St.

Boniface Catholic Church

in Esmond and later Little

Flower Catholic Church of

Rugby. He was a life-time

member of the Knights of

Columbus and served in

the 4th Degree Assembly.

Edmund served his

church and held positions

on the church council and

within the Knights of

Columbus at Esmond. He

aided his community as a

past director of the North

Central Human Services,

Pierce County Social Ser-

vices, FSA, and FHA

boards. He was musically

inclined and was part of a

dance band including a

family band, the Dakota

Eagles and the Leonard

Koble band spanning well

over 50 years. He enjoyed

spending time with his

family and grandchildren

while sharing his love of

card playing, hunting,

fishing,and music with

them. Edmund is sur-

vived by his wife of 63

years, Delores of Rugby;

son, Wayne (Donna) of

Rugby; daughter, Jody

(Greg) Endres of Carring-

ton; granddaughters, Lyn-

sey (Trevor) Van Nevel,

Nicole (Mario) Lemieux,

Erin, Ann and Jill Endres

and Claire (Jacob) Bitz;

brother, Rudy of Albu-

querque, New Mexico; sis-

ters, Bertha Schell of Rug-

by, Agnes Schell of Minot

and Rita (Gary) Thomas of

Green Valley, Arizona;

nieces, nephews; other

relatives and friends. He

was preceded in death

by a sister, Rose Hoffart,

and his parents. The fami-

ly wishes to express sin-

cere appreciation to the

Heart of America Medical

Center’s Long Term Care

family for the love and

care given to Edmund and

his family. Memorials

may be made in

Edmund’s memory to Par-

kinson Research, The

North Dakota Right to Life

or a charity of your

choice. Please observe

tancing, proper hand hy-

giene and staying at home

if not feeling well. Facial

masks are mandatory

while in the church. Mass

of Christian Burial will

be held at 11:00 a.m. Sa-

turday, April 17 at the Lit-

tle Flower Catholic

Church in Rugby with

burial in the church

cemetery. Father Franklin

Miller, Celebrant. Visita-

tion will be on Friday

from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

with a rosary and vigil

prayer service beginning

at 7:00 p.m. with reviewal

on Saturday from 9:00 to

10:30 a.m. all in the

Anderson Funeral Home

of Rugby There will be no

reviewal in the church on
