Carol Schnabel

April 25, 1953-July 8, 2020

Carol Schnabel, 67,

Minot, formerly of Bur-

lington, ND, passed away

on Wednesday, July 8,

2020, following a life-long

battle with Von

Hippel-Lindau Syndrome

(VHL), with her loving

family by her side.

Carol Joanne Johnson

was born on April 25,

1953, a daughter of

Francis and Mildred

“Millie” (Hagen) Johnson

in Minot, ND. She was

raised and educated in

Minot, where she attend-

ed Bell Schools and Minot

Public Schools, graduat-

ing in 1971 from Minot

High School. Carol furth-

ered her education by at-

tending Minot State

University.

On June 18, 1972, Carol

was united in marriage to

Mark Schnabel at St.

Mark’s Lutheran Church

in Minot, ND. They made

their home in Burlington,

where together they raised

two children, Eric and

Kari. Carol worked for a

time at the Dakota Boys

Ranch, KHRT Radio and

the Minot Chamber of

Commerce. She had a pas-

sion for teaching piano for

40-plus years and loved

each one of her many stu-

dents.

Music played an impor-

tant role in Carol’s life.

Along with teaching the

piano, she was active with

the Voices of Note

women’s chorus, church

choirs and helped direct a

youth choir at Augustana

Lutheran Church. She

cherished singing with

the Treble Makers, but the

most joy was had in their

rehearsals! Carol loved

knitting and crocheting,

which she learned from

her mother. She also en-

joyed traveling the world

with Mark, her friends

and family.

Carol was a loving wife,

mother, sister, and friend,

but her favorite role was

grandmother. Carol treas-

ured her grandchildren

and her favorite memories

were watching them in

each of their activities.

Even though we are sad

Carol is no longer with us

here on earth, we rejoice

in her reunion with fami-

ly and friends that have

gone before her. Oh what

beautiful music will be

made!
