Minot, passed away
peacefully Tuesday, Sep-
tember 10, 2019, with her
husband and her daughter
by her side, at the Univer-
sity of Minnesota Hospital
in Minneapolis, MN.
Sheila Kay Martin was
born March 4, 1948, a
daughter of David and
Dorothy (Beckman) Mar-
tin in Antigo, WI. She was
raised in Minneapolis,
MN, where she graduated
from Southwest High
School in Minneapolis in
1966. She furthered her
education by attending
the University of Min-
nesota, graduating with a
degree in Elementary Edu-
cation.
On August 5, 1972,
Sheila was united in mar-
riage to Larry Galvin in St.
Louis Park, MN.
Sheila was a strong
woman, who had two
separate courageous bat-
tles with cancer. Both of
which she beat.
Family was very impor-
tant to Sheila, and her life
revolved around them,
and her dogs. She enjoyed
playing games, camping,
attending church and
school activities and
many sporting events, in-
cluding dance, soccer,
football and baseball. She
was a fun loving, kind
person who was loved by
everyone that knew her.
Her loving family in-
cludes: husband of 47
years, Larry, Minot;
daughter and son-in-law,
Melissa and Mark Gath-
man, Minot; grandchil-
dren, Faith, Lilly, Luke,
Sophie and Gavin Gath-
man; mother, Dorothy
(Leonard) Neidig, Red
Wing, MN; brother, Steve
(Angie) Martin, Ft. Myers,
FL; sisters, Nancy McKay,
Red Wing, MN, and
MaryEllen (Eric) Trehus,
Maiden Rock, WI;
brother-in-law: Jim
(LeAnn) Galvin, White
Bear Lake, MN; and
numerous nieces, neph-
ews, great-nieces, great-
nephews and cousins.
Sheila was preceded in
death by her father, Da-
vid; father-in-law and
mother-in-law, Bud and
Bunny Galvin; grand-
parents, Frank and Mary
Beckman, and Virgil and
Blanche Martin; and
brother-in-law, Mike
McKay.
Funeral: Tuesday, Sep-
tember 17, 2019, at 2:00
p.m. at Christ Lutheran
Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill
Memorial Park, Minot.
Visitation: Monday
from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00
p.m. at Thompson-Larson
Funeral Home, Minot.
