Philip “Scottie” Bickler,
94, Minot, ND, passed
away Sunday, June 9,
2019, at Trinity Hospital,
Minot, ND .
Philip Scott Bickler was
born April 29, 1925, the
son of Chris and Leah
(Scott) Bickler, in Rugby,
ND. He graduated from
Rolette High School,
Rolette, ND in 1943.
Scottie enlisted in the
United States Navy on
March 30, 1943. He
proudly served his coun-
try during World War II.
He served for three years
as a Yeoman First Class
on the USS Antares sup-
ply ship in the South Pa-
cific. He served in Gua-
dalcanal, Solomon Is-
lands, Okinawa, China,
Korea, New Zealand,
Hawaiian Islands and was
headed to Japan when the
war ended. He was honor-
ably discharged on April
19, 1946.
He married Amy Holm-
ly on November 28, 1946
in St. Mark’s Lutheran
Church, Mylo, ND.
Scottie was employed at
Crawford and Gunnerude
Store in Rugby, ND for
one year, before becoming
employed by the Great
Northern and Burlington
Northern Railroad as a
conductor until his retire-ment after 40 years in
1987. He was a
broker-owner with Brok-
ers 12 Real Estate for
several years.
He was a member of
Vincent United Methodist
Church, Minot for over 50
years, the American Le-
gion and the Veterans of
Foreign Wars (VFW).
Scottie enjoyed fishing
at his lake cabin at
Parshall Bay, Lake Saka-
kawea for many years.
His loving family in-
cludes: wife of 72 years,
Amy Bickler, Minot, ND;
children, Gary (Vicki)
Bickler, Jacksonville
Beach, FL, Kelly (Gail)
Bickler, Minot, and Mark
(Nicky) Bickler, Minot,
ND; grandchildren, Derek
(Sara) Bickler, Scott (An-
nette) Bickler, Ryan
Bickler and Jared
(Lindsay) Bickler;
step-grandchild, Jessica
Vold; great-grandchildren,
Mya Bickler, Justin
Bickler, Amy Bickler and
Nellie Bickler; step-great
grandchildren, Lachlan
Vold and Briar Vold; sis-
ter, Argyle Baukol,
Sequim, WA;
sister-in-law, Monie
Bickler, Enumclaw, WA;
and numerous nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in
death by: his parents,
Chris and Leah Bickler;
brother, Lloyd Bickler;
and brother-in-law, Fay
Baukol.
Celebration of Scottie’s
Life: Saturday, June 15,
2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Vin-
cent United Methodist
Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill
Memorial Park, Minot,
ND.
Visitation: There will be
no reviewal, but friends
may sign the register book
on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
at Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home, Minot.
Memorials: are pre-
ferred to the VFW Club
Post #753, the American
Heart Association, or the
Minot Shriner Club.
