Ruth Delores (Braaten) Latendresse
Dec. 28, 1937 – Feb. 4, 2019
Ruth Delores (Braaten)
Latendresse, 81, Upham,
ND went to be with the
Lord on Monday, Febru-
ary 4, 2019 at her home
surrounded by her family.
Ruth was born De-
cember 28, 1937 to Cal-
mer and Anna (Rice)
Braaten in Rugby, ND.
She was raised in Layton
Township of McHenry
County, ND along with
her eleven siblings and at-
tended grade school in a
one room schoolhouse.
Ruth completed her edu-
cation at Trinity School of
Nursing and became a
Licensed Practical Nurse.
Ruth and Orville Laten-
dresse were united in
marriage on September
17, 1956 in Bloomfield
Church in Upham. They
honeymooned in Dead-
wood, SD. The farm lo-
cated northeast of Upham
was home, where they
raised five children and
often filled the house with
cousins and friends over
the years.
Ruth worked as an LPN
in the emergency room of
the Bottineau Hospital for
many years in addition to
assisting Orville with the
operation of the farm and
ranch duties.
Ruth was a member of
New Hope Lutheran
Church in Upham. She
enjoyed many activities
that included rummage
sales, embroidery, puzzles
and pinochle; but her
favorite was time spent
with her grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
Her embroidered towels
were an item that she
loved to share with fami-
ly, friends and often
donated to fundraisers;
her signature towels often
included a rooster. Ruth’s
legacy to our family was
teaching us all how to
love.
Ruth is survived by her
