L. Duane Berg

L. Duane Berg, 71, of

Williston and rural Zahl,

passed away at his home

on Sunday evening, De-

cember 23, 2018.

His funeral will be cele-

brated Friday afternoon,

December 28, 2018 at 2:00

PM at Gloria Dei Lutheran

Church in Williston. Rev.

David Maxfield will offici-ate and interment will fol-

low in the Riverview

Cemetery in Williston.

L. Duane Berg was born

June 10, 1947 to Lloyd

and Hazel Berg (Kjorstad).

Duane was baptized

and confirmed at Bethes-

da church. On February

21st 1971, he was united

in marriage to Leta Raaum

at Writing Rock Lutheran

Church in Alkabo, ND.

Duane attended Ellisville

Grade School and gra-

duated from Alamo High

School in 1965. He con-

tinued his education at

Wahpeton State School of

Science and graduated in

1968.

Duane was drafted in

January 1969 into the US

Army. In June of the same

year he was sent to sup-

port the war in Vietnam.

He returned back to North

Dakota in August 1970 to

continue his farming

career with his father,

Lloyd.

Duane loved farming

and ranching. He was so

proud that he had recent-

ly purchased the family

farm and continued to

farm with his son, Justin

in Zahl, ND. In the past

summer he mentioned he

wished he was on the

combine in the field. He

enjoyed long drives in the

country and stopping by

the elevator for coffee,

and talking with fellow

friends and farmers.

Surviving Duane are

his wife of 47 years Leta

Berg; daughters Lu Ann of

Bismarck; Paula and Jef-

frey Sayler of Bismarck;

Sherry and Jeremy Hines

of Wilmington, NC; Justin

and Genna) of Zahl, ND

Surviving grandchil-

dren are Lacey and Joe

Dlugos, Wilson, NC; Kayla

Sayler, Bismarck, ND,

Hailey and Logan Hines,

Wilmington, NC, and

Brantley Berg, Zahl, ND.

Duane and Leta enjoyed

many years of attendance

at the North Dakota State

Fair, the Medora musical,

and traveling to see and

spoil their grandchildren.

Survived by: Marvin

Berg and sisters JoAnne

Radtke; Betty Kelly;

Eileen Johnson; Linda

Bustad; Dorothy Feiring;

Nina Jore; Laural (sister

in-law), nieces, nephews,

cousins, and many other

special friends and fellow

farmers. Preceded in

death by: Lloyd

Berg/Father; Hazel

Berg/mother, Lorraine

Larson/sister, Bob

Johnson/Brother in-law/

Dorlin Bustad/brother

in-law, Maynard

Johnson/Brother in-law.

So hard to say goodbye

to our loved ones. We

were all so blessed to

have Duane in our lives.

We will miss all of the

love he had for his family

and friends. Also his

kindness, generosity, and

of course his sense of

humor will be greatly

missed. He was definitely

one of a kind.
