Halls, 88, Rugby died on

Friday, July 20, 2018 at

Lilac Homes in Moorhead,

Minnesota. Genevieve

was born on January 13,

1930 in Rugby to Albert

Henry and Martha Lena

Rose (Kitzman) Brandt.

She was raised in the Wil-

low City area and graduat-ed from Willow City High

School in 1948. She had

been baptized and con-

firmed at St. Paul Luth-

eran Church in Willow

City. In 1951 she gra-

duated from the New

York Hairdressing

Academy in Fargo. Her

career started at the Gil-

more’s House of Beauty in

Minot from 1951-1955.

She married Keith Ber-

nard Halls in Willow City

on June 5, 1955. In 1957

she opened the Vanity

Salon in Rugby which she

owned and operated until

she retired in December

1999. She served many

generations of women for

decades with genuine care

and styling. Genevieve

moved to Fargo in 2010

and lived in the Fargo-

Moorhead area until her

death.

She was a member of

First Lutheran Church in

Rugby, where she was a

member of WELCA, the

altar guild, and had been

a Sunday school teacher.

During her life she

served as a caregiver for

many friends and family.

As she enjoyed music of

all kinds, her faith and

family were the corner-

stones of her life.

She is survived by her

daughter, Ruth Ann Halls

– Fargo and her son, Da-

vid and his wife, Susan

Halls – Ada, Minnesota.

Her granddaughter, Eliza

Marie Halls – Fargo will

miss her very much. She

was preceded by her hus-

band Keith on June 30,

1993 and her brother,

Melvin Brandt and a sis-

ter, Daveda Jensen and

her parents. Her last res-

cued animal, a cat named

Buster, will continue pro-

viding joy living with

Ruth Ann.

Funeral services will be

held on Tuesday, July 31,

2018 at First Lutheran

Church in Rugby at 2:00

P.M. with Rev. Michael

Pretzer officiating. Jewel

Nesvig Lambrecht, Craig

Wollenburg and Pam

Anderson will provide

music for the service.

Richard Arstein, Daniel

Brandt, Kevin and Mitch

Jensen, Jim Kraft and

Aaron Stenson will serve

as casket bearers. Burial

will follow the service at

Persilla Watts Cemetery in

Rugby.

Visitation will be held

at the Niewoehner Fun-

eral Home on Monday,

July 30 from 4-7 PM and

on Tuesday from 9 – 10:30

AM and an hour before

the service at the church.
