ND senators join support for Russia, Iran sanctions

WASHINGTON — U.S. Sens. John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer, both R-ND, voted Friday, Aug. 7, to support legislation to hold major purchasers of Russian oil and gas accountable for supporting Russia’s war in Ukraine. The senators issued statements after the Senate voted 86-11 to pass the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026, legislation that was negotiated by U.S. Sen. Staffing shortage forces early pool closure

The Minot Park District has announced an earlier-than-planned closing date of Monday, Aug. 17, for Roosevelt Park Pool due to limited staffing as the summer season comes to an end. To safely operate just the big pool, Roosevelt Park Pool requires a minimum of five lifeguards on duty. As the Roosevelt Park Pool staff is primarily made up of high school and college students, the return to school each August is always a challenging time for staffing.
