Wanted fugitive arrested in southwest Minot
A wanted fugitive was arrested in southwest Minot the evening of Sunday, May 10, according to the Minot Police Department.
Minot Police received information from investigators with the United States Marshals Service-Seattle District who believed that an individual named Bounchanh Halsana, 33, Utah, was traveling by Amtrak to Minot.
Halsana had a full extraditable warrant issued by the State of Utah and was identified as a violent Crip gang member and one of the Salt Lake City area’s most wanted fugitives, according to Minot Police. Halsan had also reportedly fled from law enforcement in three other states.
Halsana was located about 9:30 p.m. in a coordinated multi-agency operation, and taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit after exiting the train. He was then transported to the Ward County Jail pending extradition.
The operation involved the following agencies: Minot Police Department, Ward County Narcotics Task Force, Minot SWAT, Minot Fire Department, Homeland Security Investigations, Amtrak Police Department, Salt Lake City Police Department Gang Unit, and the U.S. Marshals Service – Utah District, Seattle District, and District of Western Washington.
