Global Strike Command leader to address symposium

Gen. S.L. Davis, commander of Air Force Global Strike Command, will headline the Task Force 21 Nuclear Triad Symposium in Minot Tuesday, April 28.

Gen. S.L. Davis, commander of Air Force Global Strike Command and commander of Air Forces Strategic-Air, U.S. Strategic Command, will give the keynote address at the Task Force 21 Nuclear Triad Symposium Tuesday, April 28, in Minot.

Davis’ Air Force assignments include serving as commander of the 91st Missile Wing at Minot Air Force Base from June 2011-June 2012.

The day-long symposium, being held at the Clarion Hotel Convention Center, will feature strategic discussions on the state of nuclear deterrence in 2026, including updates on the Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) system and B-52 modernization efforts and their impact on North Dakota and local communities, and the critical role Minot Air Force Base plays in protecting the nation and the world, according to Minot Area Chamber EDC information.

Other featured speakers include state leaders U.S. Sens. John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer, U.S. Rep. Julie Fedorchak and Gov. Kelly Armstrong; Col. Ty Cisneros, chief of Command and Control Division, A10 ICBM Modernization at Air Force Global Strike Command; Dr. Rebecca Heinrichs, Hudson Institute senior fellow and Keystone Defense Initiative director; and John A. Hill, foreign policy adviser to Davis at Air Force Global Strike Command.

Mayor Mark Jantzer, member and former longtime chair of Task Force 21, and Brekka Kramer, MACEDC, president and CEO, will give opening remarks.

Task Force 21 is an activity of MACEDC that educates the local community, North Dakota officials, members of Congress and the public on national security issues, particularly ones that affect Minot AFB, the U.S. Air Force and America’s nuclear deterrent, according to MACEDC information.

According to Air Force information, Davis became commander of Air Force Global Strike Command and commander of Air Forces Strategic-Air, U.S. Strategic Command, based at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, in November 2025.

Air Force Global Strike Command provides strategic deterrence, global strike capability and combat support to U.S. Strategic Command and other geographic combatant commands. The command consists of more than 36,400 professionals at two numbered air forces; 12 active duty, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve wings; and the Joint Global Strike Operations Center. Weapons systems assigned to Air Force Global Strike Command include all U.S. Air Force and bomber aircraft, UH-1N and MH-139 helicopters, E-4B National Airborne Operations Center aircraft and the U.S. Air Force NC3 weapon system.

Minot AFB’s 5th Bomb Wing with its B-52s and 91st Missile Wing with its Minuteman III ICBMs are units of Air Force Global Strike Command.
