Trinity Health stroke program earns national certification
Trinity Health has received the Gold Seal of Approval for its stroke program from the Joint Commission, recognizing the hospital’s compliance with national performance standards for stroke care.
The certification reflects Trinity Health’s adherence to quality and safety benchmarks across the continuum of stroke care, including emergency response, inpatient treatment and discharge planning, according to Trinity Health information.
Trinity Health underwent an on-site review in October, during which a Joint Commission surveyor evaluated the hospital’s stroke program for timeliness and quality of care, care coordination and discharge processes. The review included on-site observations, interviews and evaluation of clinical outcomes and performance measures.
“The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval reflects Trinity Health’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based stroke care,” Ben Anderson, vice president and chief nursing officer, said in a statement. “This certification recognizes the expertise, coordination and dedication of our team members who work around the clock to ensure patients receive timely care when every second counts.”
During the review, surveyors observed stroke care throughout the patient journey, from arrival through discharge. The evaluation included emergency response and EMS coordination, medication management, advanced diagnostic imaging and treatment, therapy services and discharge planning. Providers, nurses, therapists and case managers involved in stroke care were also interviewed.
The Joint Commission is a healthcare accrediting organization that works with more than 24,000 healthcare organizations worldwide to promote patient safety and improve health outcomes.
