Pedestrian killed in crash in Jamestown

JAMESTOWN – A 16-year-old male from Jamestown died from injuries when he was struck by a vehicle while walking in Jamestown Wednesday, Jan. 21.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, about 4:35 p.m., a 2003 International semi pulling a trailer was turning west onto Fourth Street Northeast from southbound Fifth Avenue Northeast. During the turn, the pedestrian, who was walking south across Fourth Street Northeast, was struck by the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. The road was covered with ice, according to the Highway Patrol.

The driver of the semi, a 36-year-old man from Lehr, was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.

In a crash 2 miles west of Ludden in Dickey County, a 24-year-old Moorhead, Minnesota, man was seriously injured in a single vehicle rollover.

According to the Highway Patrol, on Wednesday about 11:28 p.m., a 2016 Ram 2500 pickup driven by the Moorhead man, was traveling east on Highway 11. The pickup left the road, entered the north ditch and rolled. The driver was taken to the Oakes hospital and then transported to an Aberdeen, South Dakota, medical facility. The driver was not wearing a seat belt.

Both crashes remain under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
